CASE SHARING in Rio de Janeiro:
The patient is a 70-year-old women with chronic liver disease caused by C virus, and 02 HCC, who refused liver transplantation, was referred to INCA for percutanous treatment by interventional radiology.
She performed radiofrequency ablation in the left lobe tumor, achieving complete response. The other tumor, located in the hepatic segment VIII, underwent conventional TACE, but remaining with a residual lesion in the periphery, measuring 1,3cm.
Dr. Henrique Salas and Dra. Larissa Villa Nova of INCA instituto nacional de Câncer performed percutaneous microwave ablation using the Dophi™ Microwave Ablation System needle of this residual lesion, ensuring a safe margin.
